The actor and BJP Member of Parliament shared a series of Instagram posts on Tuesday. She criticised protests over the alleged NEET paper leak and questioned the behaviour and language of young demonstrators.
Ranaut wrote that the protest videos were “puke-inducing” and described the language used by participants as “crass.” She also asked, “Who is birthing and raising them?” The remarks quickly drew widespread criticism online.
Meanwhile, several opposition parties strongly criticised Ranaut’s comments. Leaders from the Congress, Samajwadi Party and AIMIM accused her of insulting an entire generation.
The controversy followed nationwide protests over the alleged NEET paper leak. Demonstrators demanded action against those responsible and called for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
According to the report, the 36-day protest ended on July 25 after the government accepted key demands, including Pradhan’s resignation.
Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi criticised Ranaut’s remarks while speaking to reporters.
He said the country’s Gen Z would respond to her comments, signalling that the controversy could continue in the political arena.
Furthermore, Ranaut’s remarks triggered intense debate across social media platforms. Supporters defended her right to express her views, while critics argued that her comments unfairly targeted young people participating in democratic protests.
The controversy has once again placed the BJP MP at the centre of political debate, with opposition leaders demanding greater responsibility in public statements.
