EU Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis led the delegation. It included diplomats from Sweden, Norway, France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Ireland, and Canada. They discussed bilateral ties, the GSP+ trade programme, the rule of law, and future cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed Pakistan’s progress on human rights commitments. They also stressed the importance of maintaining regular dialogue and strengthening their partnership.

The visiting diplomats welcomed Pakistan’s recent human rights initiatives. They praised the establishment of the National Commission for Minorities and the Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Act. In addition, they discussed progress on the death penalty moratorium and other human rights commitments.

Tarar briefed the delegation on ongoing legal and institutional reforms. He said the government is improving access to justice, protecting fundamental rights, and strengthening the rule of law. He also stressed that Pakistan implements counterterrorism measures in line with the Constitution and existing laws.

Furthermore, the minister said the government continues to strengthen democratic institutions through legal reforms. He added that these measures aim to improve the country’s justice system.

Tarar assured the delegation that Pakistan would continue constructive engagement with the European Union. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing GSP+ obligations and expanding cooperation on legal reforms and human rights.

Finally, both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing dialogue. They agreed to deepen cooperation and maintain regular engagement to achieve shared objectives.
