ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by 66 paisa per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel by 52 paisa per litre, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.
Under the revised rates, petrol will cost Rs398.30 per litre, while high-speed diesel will be priced at Rs396.24 per litre.
The notification said the revised prices would remain in effect on October 10, 11 and 12.
Previous Fuel Prices Revised
The latest adjustment follows an earlier increase in petroleum prices that took effect on October 9.
Under the previous notification, the government had raised petrol prices by Rs2.31 per litre to Rs398.96. It also increased high-speed diesel prices by 78 paisa per litre to Rs395.72.
The latest changes reverse part of the previous petrol increase while adding to the price of diesel.
Petrol is widely used by private motorists and motorcyclists, while diesel powers much of Pakistan’s freight transport, agricultural machinery and public transport. Changes in fuel prices can therefore affect household travel expenses and businesses’ operating costs.
