Started in Karachi, aims to equip women with
essential car driving and bike riding skills
to enhance mobility and independence

Karachi: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has launched Phase 2 of its flagship women’s empowerment initiative, PSO Shaheen, extending its reach to Lahore and Islamabad. The program, which started in Karachi, aims to equip women with essential car driving and bike riding skills to enhance mobility and independence.
Following the success of Phase 1, in which 82% of participants secured driving licenses and completion certificates, the second phase quadruples the program’s reach. This expansion reflects PSO’s continued commitment to fostering women’s empowerment through skill development.
PSO Shaheen not only promotes confidence behind the wheel but also helps women improve their livelihoods. Many past participants have started small businesses, supported their households, or financed personal motorcycles using their new skills.
The initiative is fast becoming a nationwide model for women’s mobility, providing real opportunities for economic and personal advancement across Pakistan.
