Prominent hotelier Khalid Sheikh allegedly abducted in Karachi

KARACHI — Prominent hotelier Khalid Ahmed Sheikh was allegedly abducted in broad daylight from Defence. Armed men abducted him along with Adnan Haider Jafri from a guest house. More than 10 mobile phones, laptops, DVR and cash were also taken.

According to the family of victims Defence police station was continuously avoiding taking action, due to which they have filed a constitutional writ petition in the Sindh High Court. The court has issued notices to the DG Rangers, IG Sindh Police, SHO Defence Police and others.

According to victims on 26 July at 10:51 PM, former GM of Regent Plaza Hotel Sheikh Khalid Ahmed was abducted from a guest house located in Defence Phase 2 when he was present there with his friend Adnan Haider Jafri and others. More than 20 private individuals along with police personnel raided the guest house. They took more than 10 mobile phones, a laptop, DVR, while leaving they also abducted Sheikh Khalid Ahmed and Adnan Haider Jafri.

10 minutes later police from Defence Police Station came on their own took stock of the situation and left. Later an application was submitted to the police station by the guest house administration but SHO Defence Police Station Ashraf Jogi refused to accept the application.

However on 28 July the application was received again but Police did not take action. Due to this Khalid Ahmed Sheikh, Adnan Haider Jafri and the guest house administration approached the Sindh High Court through constitutional petition number D-4813.

In the petition Shankar Singh Rajput Advocate told the court that his clients were picked up without any case and despite 8 days passing there has been no hearing. He requested that the relevant authorities be ordered to recover his clients.

In the constitutional petition, DG Rangers Sindh, IG Sindh, Secretary Home Sindh, Additional IG Karachi, DIG South, SSP South and SHO Defence Police Station and others have been made parties.

The petition was heard in the Sindh High Court by the Constitutional Bench comprising Justice Muhammad Saleem Jaisar and Justice Abdul Hamid Bhurgari. They have issued notices to all the parties.
