Abu Dhabi: The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi marked Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony brimming with national zeal and community spirit. A large number of Pakistani expatriates, along with their families, gathered to celebrate the historic occasion.

Messages from Pakistan’s leadership were read out, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to progress and unity. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi warmly welcomed the guests, congratulated the community, and emphasized the guiding principles of Unity, Faith, and Discipline as the foundation for Pakistan’s socio-economic growth. Prayers were offered for the country’s peace, prosperity, and stability.

Paying tribute to the nation’s strength in the face of recent external aggression, the Ambassador highlighted the victories in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos as historic milestones, describing them as shining examples of Pakistan’s professional excellence and unshakable resolve.

Ambassador Tirmizi lauded the Pakistani diaspora’s role in national development, noting their contributions to the UAE’s growth and their support for Pakistan’s economy through remittances amounting to USD 7.9 billion last year.

In a major announcement, he commended the Embassy’s IT team for launching an online passport and NICOP tracking system to enhance consular services. He also celebrated the achievement of two community schools securing a “Good” ranking for the first time in 20 years, and revealed that more Pakistani private schools are being invited to open branches in the UAE to expand affordable, quality education for the community.

Expressing gratitude to the UAE government, the Ambassador acknowledged their role in facilitating the grand Pakistan Independence Day celebrations held on August 10, 2025, at Expo City Dubai. Attended by around 60,000 people, it was the largest Independence Day gathering of Pakistanis anywhere in the world.

As part of the ceremony, the Ambassador unveiled portraits of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, painted and donated by artist Manzoor K. Hasrat. The celebrations also featured national songs performed by schoolchildren, adding to the patriotic fervor of the day.
