Peshawar: The Dawood Global Foundation, in collaboration with Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC), distributed 230 wheelchairs — including electric models — to persons with disabilities in Peshawar as part of its nationwide humanitarian campaign.

The wheelchairs were sponsored for beneficiaries associated with Al Huda International Welfare Foundation and Mahboob Medical Institute (MMI), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The distribution forms part of Dawood Global Foundation’s broader initiative to provide 10,000 wheelchairs across Pakistan.

Ceremonies Held at Two Venues

Two separate ceremonies were organised to mark the occasion.

Mr. Ghulam Ali, Director General Law & Human Rights, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, attended as chief guest at the first ceremony held at Mahboob Medical Institute. The second ceremony was presided over by Mr. Farmanullah Khan, Director General of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Romanian Honorary Consul General Mr. Masood Ahmad Qazi attended as guest of honour. Representatives from Dawood Global Foundation and OGDC were also present.

During the ceremonies, Dr. Sana Rasheed, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Regional Representative of Dawood Global Foundation, and Mr. Wali Afridi, Regional Coordinator of OGDC, handed over wheelchairs to deserving individuals on the spot.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Disability Rights

Speaking on the occasion, the Director General Law & Human Rights appreciated the humanitarian efforts of the collaborating organisations and acknowledged their contribution to community welfare.

He reiterated the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, emphasizing inclusion, dignity and improved accessibility.

Community Participation

Students and staff of Mahboob Medical Institute and affiliated institutions actively participated in the ceremonies.

On behalf of MMI, Chairman Dr. Mahboob ur Rahman expressed gratitude to the guests and donors for their support, terming the initiative a meaningful step toward enhancing mobility and independence for persons with disabilities.

Nationwide Outreach

According to organisers, the distribution in Peshawar is part of a larger national programme aimed at improving accessibility and mobility for thousands of individuals across the country. The foundation plans to continue similar distributions in other provinces in the coming months.
