OpenAI announced on Wednesday that it is expanding advertising on ChatGPT to 26 additional countries, including Pakistan, bringing the total number of markets covered to 89 as the artificial intelligence company looks to strengthen its advertising business and boost revenue ahead of a potential initial public offering (IPO).
The company said in August that its advertising business had reached an annualised revenue run rate of $1 billion.
OpenAI began testing advertisements on ChatGPT in the United States earlier this year. More than 100,000 advertisers have since run campaigns on the platform, according to the company.
Pakistan Among New Advertising Markets
The latest expansion includes 14 additional Latin American countries, such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru, following earlier launches in Mexico and Brazil.

Advertising is also being introduced in markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The newly added countries include Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Advertisers in the new markets can access ChatGPT advertising through technology partners or use the self-service Ads Manager platform.
ChatGPT Free and Go Plans to Display Ads
OpenAI said advertisements will appear only on ChatGPT’s Free and Go subscription plans. Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions will remain ad-free.
The expansion follows the company’s broader efforts to develop its advertising business. In September, OpenAI introduced artificial intelligence-powered tools for advertisers and began testing business-sponsored agents with selected advertisers in the United States.
The addition of Pakistan to the advertising rollout opens another market for businesses seeking to reach audiences through ChatGPT.
