Bank Al-Falah will provide scholarships and conduct workshops to support students of Master of Science in Journalism at IBA and content creators

Mazhar Ali Raza

Karachi: Bank Al-Falah and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi have announced a collaborative initiative aimed at empowering online content creators and enhancing financial literacy. Under this partnership, Bank Al-Falah will provide scholarships and conduct workshops to support students pursuing a Master of Science in Journalism (MSJ) at IBA and content creators.

Scholarships for Journalism Students

As part of the agreement, Bank Al-Falah will award scholarships to five MSJ students at IBA for the academic year 2024-25. These scholarships are intended to help students excel in journalism, focusing on critical areas such as reporting, research, fact-checking, technology, and ethics. Dr. Asma Haider, Professor and Dean of the School of Economics and Social Sciences at IBA, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our MSJ students are trained in the best practices of journalism, and these scholarships will enable them to further enhance their skills, contributing to financial literacy and promoting transparency in journalism.”

Financial Literacy Workshops for Content Creators

In addition to scholarships, Bank Al-Falah will conduct twelve workshops aimed at improving the financial literacy of online content creators. Taimur Ahmed, Acting Head of the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at IBA, expressed gratitude to Bank Al-Falah, noting, “Empowering young journalists and content creators is essential for fostering a well-informed society. This initiative is a significant step towards achieving that goal.”

Corporate Commitment to Financial Well-being

Madiha Javed Qureshi, Head of Corporate Communication at Bank Al-Falah, highlighted the broader impact of this collaboration, stating, “This partnership not only supports the development of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce but also aligns with our commitment to the financial well-being of the country.”

This joint effort between Bank Al-Falah and IBA Karachi is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of journalism and financial literacy in Pakistan.
