Pakistani visits Belarus to strengthen bilateral

ties, inaugurate a cultural exhibition, and

explore collaboration in agriculture and industry

Foreign Correspondent

Minsk: A Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, is currently visiting Belarus from August 19-22, 2024. The delegation engaged in high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Belarus across various sectors.

During the visit, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, along with his delegation, held separate meetings with H.E. Mr. Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives, and H.E. Mrs. Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic. The discussions focused on initiatives to further enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, culture, and technology.

“Pakistan at a Glance” Exhibition Inaugurated

The Honorable Speaker also inaugurated a photographic exhibition titled “Pakistan at a Glance,” organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Minsk. The exhibition, attended by over a hundred Belarusian dignitaries, ambassadors, civil society members, and media representatives, showcased Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, architectural diversity, and breathtaking landscapes. The display included stunning images of the Karakoram and Himalayan ranges, the lush valleys of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, and the diverse terrains of Balochistan and Sindh.

Honoring WWII Victims and Exploring Industrial Collaboration

On August 21, 2024, the delegation paid homage to the victims of the Second World War by laying a floral wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk. They also visited the Minsk Tractor Works (MTW), known for manufacturing the “BELARUS” tractor, and discussed potential areas for collaboration in the agricultural sector.

In a meeting with the Belarusian Minister of Agriculture, the delegation explored opportunities to expand cooperation in yield enhancement, exchange of best practices, and innovation in agriculture. They also enjoyed a short tram ride in Minsk, featuring vibrant Pakistani truck art.

This visit, marking the first-ever parliamentary delegation from Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus, underscores the growing relationship between the two nations. The delegation, visiting at the invitation of the Chairman of the Belarusian House of Representatives, is set to return to Pakistan on August 23, 2024.
