Experts say writers must adapt to digital tools and evolving knowledge systems
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is driving a global intellectual and creative transformation, reshaping how knowledge is produced, shared, and preserved, experts said during a seminar held in Karachi.
The seminar titled “Beyond Books: The Evolution of Writers, Researchers and Media” was organized by the Society for Promotion of Reading and Improvement of Libraries (SPRIL) in collaboration with KIET North Campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Khalid Khan said AI has laid the foundation for a new intellectual revolution and highlighted rapid advancements in the field over the past decade. He stressed that modern writers and researchers must embrace artificial intelligence and digital platforms while keeping future needs in mind.
He added that books and knowledge sources are continuously evolving and that research can now be effectively communicated to younger generations through social media and AI-based tools, helping preserve intellectual capital.
Amjad Hussain Shah, General Manager of Pakistan Television (PTV), said that books and the written word remain the foundation of knowledge and civilization. He emphasized the importance of converting digital content into books to ensure accessibility for future generations.
He noted that continuous learning leads to progress, while knowledge-sharing strengthens society.
SPRIL founding member Rabiya Ali Faridi said the organization’s journey began at KIET North Campus and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting reading culture and library sciences.
Jawahar Aleem, Librarian at KIET North Campus, described Library and Information Science as an evolving field that enhances access to research and academic resources. She said it plays a key role in improving educational systems and promoting a culture of reading and scholarship.
Other speakers also highlighted the importance of reading, research, creative writing, and modern media in shaping future learning systems.
The seminar concluded with a shield distribution ceremony for speakers and guests, while a vote of thanks was presented by Jawahar Aleem on behalf of SPRIL President Ikram Ul Haq.
