Seven Killed as Storms and Lightning Strike Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Districts

KP Storms Leave Seven Dead Across Multiple Districts

Severe KP Storms accompanied by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and lightning strikes have claimed at least seven lives and injured dozens of people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 24 hours. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the weather-related incidents also caused extensive damage to homes, livestock, and local infrastructure.

The impact of the KP Storms has been particularly severe in several districts, where collapsing roofs, falling walls, and lightning strikes resulted in fatalities and injuries. Consequently, emergency services and district administrations have launched rescue and relief operations to assist affected communities.

Bannu Hit Hard by KP Storms

Bannu recorded the highest number of casualties during the recent weather emergency. Strong winds and heavy rainfall reportedly caused multiple roofs and walls to collapse in residential areas.

According to PDMA data, four people lost their lives in these incidents, including two children. In addition, at least 24 people sustained injuries, among them nine children and nine women.

Authorities stated that the widespread damage to homes reflected the intensity of the storm system that moved through the district. Rescue teams were dispatched immediately to assist trapped residents and provide medical support to the injured.

Mansehra Lightning Causes Fatalities

Separate weather-related incidents were reported in Mansehra district, where lightning strikes and heavy rain created dangerous conditions.

According to official reports, two people were killed, including a woman. Local authorities responded to the affected areas and began damage assessments following the incidents.

Furthermore, emergency responders continued monitoring vulnerable locations as unstable weather conditions persisted across parts of the province.

Shangla Records Additional Casualty

Another fatal lightning strike was reported in Shangla district. Officials confirmed that one person died after being struck during the storm.

Several other weather-related incidents were also reported in the district. Although rescue teams responded promptly, authorities warned residents to remain cautious during periods of severe weather.

The latest casualty further highlights the risks posed by lightning activity during seasonal storms.

PDMA Reports Widespread Injuries

Across all affected districts, a total of 33 people were injured due to collapsing structures and lightning-related incidents. Official figures show that nine children and three women were among those hurt during the storms.

In addition to human losses, rural communities suffered economic setbacks. The PDMA reported that at least 25 livestock animals died during the severe weather, affecting families that depend on farming and livestock for their livelihoods.

Authorities are currently gathering additional information regarding property damage and infrastructure losses.

Rescue 1122 Continues Relief Efforts

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority stated that emergency teams, including Rescue 1122 personnel, remain active in affected districts. Local administrations are also coordinating rescue, relief, and recovery operations.

Officials said assistance is being provided to affected families while damage assessments continue. Meanwhile, authorities have urged residents to follow weather advisories and take precautionary measures during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

As recovery efforts continue, provincial authorities are closely monitoring weather conditions and remain prepared to respond to any further emergencies resulting from the ongoing storm activity.
