ISLAMABAD, October 20, 2026: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has launched a Security Operations Centre (SOC) to strengthen cybersecurity, protect critical information assets and improve its ability to detect and respond to cyber threats.
National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar inaugurated the centre and highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in protecting critical digital infrastructure.
SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, Commissioners Imtiaz Haider, Muzzafar Ahmed Mirza and Zeeshan Khattak, along with other senior officials, attended the inauguration ceremony.
Centre to Monitor Networks Around the Clock
The new Security Operations Centre will provide continuous monitoring of SECP’s networks, endpoints, servers and private cloud environments.
The system is designed to identify potential threats at an early stage, support timely incident response and strengthen the commission’s operational resilience.
According to the SECP, the centre has been funded by Karandaaz Pakistan, acting as the implementing agency for the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Inara Technologies Pakistan enabled the initiative, while REWTERZ will provide support under a Managed Security Services Provider agreement.
The centre will operate in line with recognised international standards and cybersecurity best practices.

SECP Briefs NADRA Chief on Technology Reforms
During a separate meeting, SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu briefed the NADRA chairman on the commission’s information technology reforms and infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
The discussion also covered the adoption of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve service delivery and facilitate ease of doing business.
The initiatives form part of the SECP’s broader efforts to modernise its systems while strengthening the security and reliability of its digital infrastructure.

Plan to Connect Capital Markets Security Centres
The SECP also plans to integrate the Security Operations Centres of Capital Markets Institutions (CMIs) into a sector-wide framework.
The proposed framework aims to facilitate threat intelligence sharing and improve coordination in responding to cybersecurity incidents across the capital markets sector.
The commission said the initiative would support its envisioned role as a Sectoral Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Sectoral Security Operations Centre.
The move is intended to strengthen collaboration among market institutions and improve the sector’s collective ability to identify, manage and respond to emerging cyber risks.
