Satluj Diljit Dosanjh Film Removed From ZEE5 India Days After OTT Release

The long-delayed film, inspired by human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, was released on ZEE5 before the platform suspended its availability in India.

Satluj disappeared from ZEE5 in India just two days after the streaming platform released the film, according to Indian media reports.

ZEE5 launched the Diljit Dosanjh-starrer on 3 July after the project spent four years in India’s film certification process.

However, the platform withdrew the film from its catalogue until further notice.

ZEE5 backs the film

ZEE5 confirmed the decision in an official statement.

However, the platform did not explain why it withdrew the film.

Instead, it said it would explore every appropriate legal avenue to restore access for viewers in India.

The platform also thanked audiences for their strong response.

Furthermore, it reaffirmed its support for the film’s creative vision and its commitment to authentic storytelling.

On social media, ZEE5 wrote: “Satluj may have paused. But the conversation it started hasn’t.”

Certification battle delayed release

The filmmakers originally titled the project Punjab 95.

They based the story on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.

According to reports, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanded more than 120 cuts before allowing an OTT release under the new title.

As a result, the filmmakers skipped a theatrical release in India.

Cast and production

RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures produced the film.

The cast includes Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky, and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan.
