The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs3.63 per litre while increasing the rate of high-speed diesel by 31 paisa for the next pricing period, according to an official notification.
The revised prices take effect on Friday, October 16, lowering the cost of petrol while pushing diesel prices slightly higher.
Under the new rates, petrol will cost Rs390.23 per litre, down from Rs393.86. High-speed diesel will rise to Rs396.96 per litre from Rs396.65.
The Petroleum Division announced the adjustment following a review by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

International Market Movements Drive Adjustment
According to the Petroleum Division, the revised ex-depot prices reflect changes in international petrol and diesel markets.
Officials considered movements in global petroleum product prices, Platts rates, premiums and other associated costs when determining the new rates.
The latest adjustment offers some relief to motorists and other petrol consumers, while the marginal increase in diesel prices may add slightly to fuel expenses for transport and other diesel-dependent sectors.
