Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ may retain the 12-megapixel selfie camera found in the Galaxy S26 lineup, while the more expensive Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are reportedly set to receive a 16MP front-facing camera.
According to a report from GalaxyClub, the anticipated selfie camera upgrade may be limited to Samsung’s higher-end models, despite earlier speculation that the improvement could extend across the entire Galaxy S27 series.
Galaxy S27 and S27+ May Keep 12MP Selfie Cameras
The Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ are reportedly being developed with 12MP front cameras featuring autofocus, similar to their predecessors.
By comparison, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are expected to introduce a 16MP selfie camera.

Details about the new sensor remain unclear. It is not yet known whether Samsung will use a larger sensor or adopt a square sensor format, which could offer greater flexibility when framing selfies and recording video calls.
Similar camera design concepts have been associated with Apple’s iPhone 17 and iPhone 18 series, although Samsung’s final implementation has not been confirmed.
Expected Rear Camera Specifications
The reported differences between the Galaxy S27 models may also extend to their rear-camera systems.
Previous reports suggest that the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ could feature a triple-camera setup consisting of:
A 50MP primary camera
A 12MP ultrawide camera
A 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom
The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are expected to offer more advanced camera hardware.
Both premium models are rumoured to feature a 200MP primary camera and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. Their telephoto systems, however, could differ.
The Galaxy S27 Pro may feature a 12MP telephoto camera with either 3x or 3.5x optical zoom. The Galaxy S27 Ultra could offer a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
These specifications remain unconfirmed, and Samsung could change the hardware before the phones launch.
Samsung Could Widen the Gap Between Models
If the reported specifications prove accurate, Samsung may create a clearer distinction between its standard and premium Galaxy S27 smartphones.
The Galaxy S27 and S27+ could still offer capable camera systems for everyday photography. However, buyers looking for a higher-resolution selfie camera and more advanced optical zoom may find the Pro and Ultra models more appealing.
The reported strategy would give Samsung another way to differentiate its premium devices beyond display size and general performance.
For now, the camera specifications remain based on leaks and industry reports. Samsung has not officially confirmed the Galaxy S27 lineup or its camera hardware.
