The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, where senior diplomats from major economies gathered to discuss international economic and geopolitical challenges.
In a statement, the US State Department said the two officials discussed bilateral cooperation and developments in several regional hotspots, including Iran, Sudan and Yemen.
US Formalises Participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh
During the meeting, Rubio signed an agreement formalising the United States’ participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh, which Saudi Arabia will host.
According to the State Department, the agreement will provide the United States with an opportunity to showcase American innovation, expand business opportunities for US companies and strengthen Washington’s partnership with Riyadh.
