Pakistan Seafood Products Reach European Supermarket Shelves in Major Export Milestone

Pakistan seafood products have reached supermarket shelves in Europe, marking a significant milestone for the country’s seafood export industry.

The development highlights Pakistan’s growing ability to meet strict European quality and food-safety requirements. It also demonstrates the potential of locally processed seafood to compete in highly regulated international markets.

Speaking during a visit by a high-level Chinese delegation and other distinguished guests to Sea Green Enterprises, CEO Asim Abrar described the development as a major breakthrough for Pakistan’s seafood sector.

Abrar said the achievement showed that Pakistani seafood can compete globally when businesses follow international standards for processing, packaging and handling.

He said Pakistan has substantial potential to expand seafood exports. With improved infrastructure, greater investment, modern processing facilities and increased value addition, the sector could potentially generate between $1 billion and $2 billion in annual exports.

Abrar also acknowledged the role of the Marine Fisheries Department, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and other government departments in supporting access to international markets.

The success of Sea Green Enterprises provides an example of “Made in Pakistan” seafood reaching premium European retail markets. It also highlights the largely untapped potential of the country’s fisheries industry.

Abrar said the achievement should encourage further investment and modernization across the sector. He added that greater value addition could help Pakistan build a stronger and more sustainable position in global seafood markets.
