Anthropic AI Firm Signs Reported $45 Billion Cloud Computing Deal with Nscale

Anthropic is set to spend $45 billion to rent AI cloud computing capacity from Nscale’s data centre campus in West Virginia, according to a person familiar with the deal.

The reported agreement comes as Anthropic rapidly expands its computing infrastructure. The company faces rising demand for products such as its AI coding tool, Claude Code.

Nscale plans to deploy Nvidia’s new Vera Rubin chips to support Anthropic’s computing needs, the source said.

The six-year agreement would provide around 460 megawatts of power capacity. Anthropic is also preparing for a major initial public offering as it expands its business.

Anthropic expands computing capacity

The AI company has invested heavily in GPUs and other computing infrastructure. It has also increased spending on model training, inference and hiring.

Anthropic currently has a revenue run rate of about $47 billion. The company expects that figure to reach roughly $190 billion to $200 billion by 2028.

Meanwhile, Anthropic has secured several major computing and semiconductor deals.

In July, Advanced Micro Devices announced plans to sell tens of billions of dollars worth of AI servers to Anthropic. AMD also plans to invest up to $5 billion in the company behind Claude.

Anthropic has separately agreed to pay SpaceX $1.25 billion a month through May 2029 for computing capacity, according to SpaceX’s IPO filing.

That agreement covers SpaceX’s Colossus and Colossus II AI training data-centre clusters.

Growing AI infrastructure demand

The reported Nscale deal highlights the enormous computing requirements facing leading AI companies as demand for generative AI products continues to grow.

Anthropic declined to comment on the reported agreement. Bloomberg News first reported the development.
