Karachi : Indonesian Consul General H.E. Mudzakir met representatives of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) on Thursday to discuss stronger business and industrial ties between the two countries.
KATI President Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Deputy Patron-in-Chief Mohammad Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Zahid Hameed, Vice President Syed Mohammad Talha Ali and other industrialists attended the meeting.
KATI represents more than 5,000 industrial, commercial and service enterprises. The discussions focused on expanding Indonesia’s role as a sourcing and supply-chain partner for Pakistani manufacturers.
The participants also explored ways to increase Pakistani exports to Indonesia and create new opportunities for businesses in both markets.
“Indonesia and Pakistan should not only trade more — our industries should become more connected,” Mudzakir said.

Bilateral trade reached around $4.26 billion in 2025. However, both sides agreed that future cooperation should become more diversified and sustainable.
The meeting also addressed Pakistan’s trade deficit with Indonesia. The Indonesian side called for a more balanced relationship through greater Pakistani exports, investment, joint ventures and industrial partnerships.
KATI representatives expressed interest in sharing manufacturing and business expertise with Indonesian counterparts. Such cooperation could strengthen links between the industrial communities of both countries.
The Consulate also briefed KATI members about Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026, scheduled for October 14 to 18 in Greater Jakarta.
KATI members were invited to attend the expo and explore Indonesian suppliers, industrial inputs and potential business partners. The Indonesian Consulate offered to facilitate targeted business-to-business meetings.
Both sides agreed to maintain closer engagement beyond the trade expo. Their aim is to turn business interest into practical two-way trade and long-term industrial partnerships.
