Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials said Russian ballistic missiles hit at least two districts of Kyiv early on Thursday. The attacks sparked fires and killed two people, according to local authorities.
Russia’s defence ministry said it struck military and industrial sites involved in the production and storage of medium- and long-range drones. It added that the operation targeted facilities linked to Ukraine’s defence sector.
Furthermore, the ministry said Russian forces hit infrastructure at the ports of Odesa and Pivdennyi. According to Moscow, the facilities receive, store and handle military cargo and fuel supplies.
In addition, Russia said its forces struck a maritime vessel and a high-speed boat belonging to the Ukrainian armed forces. The ministry claimed the vessels were travelling towards ports in the Odesa region at the time of the attack.
The latest strikes come as both Russia and Ukraine increase attacks on strategic economic targets. Ukraine has continued to target Russian energy infrastructure, including oil facilities and tankers. At the same time, Russia has stepped up attacks on Ukraine’s Black Sea port infrastructure in recent weeks.
The claims made by Russia and Ukraine could not be independently verified.
