Karachi: Sindh Minister for Energy, Planning & Development, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has said that eco-friendly green energy is playing a vital role in preventing climate change and assured that the Sindh Government is committed to supporting renewable energy initiatives.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at a Renewable Energy Conference held at a local hotel in Karachi, he termed the conference a commendable initiative on a positive theme and pledged that the Sindh Government will implement the recommendations presented by experts and stakeholders.
The minister announced that the Sindh Electric Power Regulatory Authority (SEPRA) has been activated and will soon begin functioning, providing essential support to renewable energy investors. He added that Sindh is already working on multiple green energy projects under public-private partnerships.
“Our foremost priority is Pakistan. Any project that serves the national interest will be implemented, and every investor who steps forward will be fully supported,” he said. Shah highlighted that under the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh Government is working to ensure affordable electricity for all. He also shared that projects on mini-grids and micro-grids are underway.
The conference was attended by MNA Nafisa Shah, Secretary Energy Mushtaq Ahmed Soomro, NED Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Director Sindh Solar Energy Project Mahfooz Qazi, CEO Zephyr Wind Kamil Khalil, CEO Civil Society Support Program Noor Muhammad Bajir, and other prominent figures.
Participants emphasized the critical importance of renewable energy in mitigating the effects of climate change and praised Sindh’s proactive steps in promoting sustainable energy.
