Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, who is also a candidate for the post of United Nations secretary-general.
The two discussed the evolving regional situation and agreed that implementing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) remained the best course of action for helping defuse tensions in the Middle East.
Grossi offered technical support from the IAEA if required, reflecting the importance of international cooperation and technical expertise as diplomatic efforts continue.
During the conversation, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to advancing the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and respecting international law and international treaties.

The deputy prime minister also underscored the crucial role of the United Nations system in advancing the global agenda for peace and development.
Dar wished Grossi success in his campaign for the position of UN secretary-general and expressed Pakistan’s continued support for international efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability and cooperation.
The discussion comes amid continuing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East, with Pakistan emphasising dialogue, international law and multilateral cooperation as key elements of a peaceful resolution.
