The call came during Araghchi’s visit to China, where he also met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for talks on regional security and efforts to ease tensions.

During his meeting with Wang, Araghchi said Tehran had opened discussions with neighbouring countries as part of efforts to restore peace and stability across the region.

China Calls for US-Iran Dialogue
China urged the United States and Iran to avoid further escalation and return to negotiations.
Wang Yi said Beijing did not want tensions to intensify or spread to other areas, including Yemen and the Red Sea.
He also called on Washington and Tehran to hold meaningful discussions on unresolved issues and work toward restoring a negotiating framework based on understandings reached under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Wang said the continuing dispute between the United States and Iran served neither side’s interests.
