Karachi: The Ahmed Shah-Ejaz Farooqi panel for the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi 2025-2026 was officially announced at the Faizi Rahamin Art Gallery. The panel is led by Ahmed Shah, current President of the Arts Council, and Ejaz Farooqi.

Panel Members

  • President: Muhammad Ahmed Shah
  • Vice President: Munawar Saeed
  • Secretary: Ejaz Farooqi
  • Joint Secretary: Noorul Huda Shah
  • Treasurer: Qudsia Akbar

The governing body includes prominent names such as Dr. Huma Mir, S.M. Qaiser Sajjad, Farrukh Tanveer Shahab, and Ghazi Salahuddin, among others.

Ceremony Highlights

The announcement ceremony drew thousands of Arts Council members and attendees from diverse sectors, including the Karachi Chamber of Commerce, press clubs, legal associations, and cultural organizations. A unified declaration of support was made for the Ahmed Shah-Ejaz Farooqi panel.

Ahmed Shah’s Vision

Ahmed Shah stated he would not ask for votes, expressing confidence in his panel’s success. He highlighted his commitment to cultural development and Pakistan’s progress, reflecting on 15 years of contributions to Arts Council Karachi and other councils in Sindh. He announced a celebratory event with a Qawwali performance on December 24.

Support from Key Figures

  • Saeed Ghani (Minister for Local Government): Praised Ahmed Shah for transforming the Arts Council into a vibrant cultural hub.
  • Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah (Minister for Culture): Called Ahmed Shah an ambassador of Pakistan’s culture and pledged continued government support.
  • Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui: Endorsed the panel, praising Ahmed Shah’s lifelong dedication to cultural and educational advancement.

The election is scheduled for December 22, 2024, and the panel enjoys strong backing from stakeholders, ensuring a competitive yet celebratory event.
