inDrive Courier delivery service handling food and everyday orders in Pakistan

inDrive Courier orders reveal Pakistan’s growing appetite for everyday deliveries

inDrive Courier is emerging as an increasingly important part of Pakistan’s everyday delivery habits, with food and drink accounting for 41.9% of classified orders placed through the service between January and June 2026.

The figure comes from an internal analysis of inDrive.Courier orders across Pakistan, conducted as part of a wider study covering eight countries. The data shows that demand extends well beyond meals, with users also turning to the platform for clothing, medicine, documents, electronics and other everyday items.

Food and Drink represented 41.9% of classified orders, almost matching the combined share of Clothing & Shoes at 24%, Medicine & Pharmacy at 9%, and Documents & Papers at 8.5%. Together, those three categories accounted for 41.5% of orders.

Pakistan also recorded the highest proportion of Electronics orders among the markets included in the study, with the category representing 8.4% of classified deliveries.

“It’s no surprise to see food and drink account for such a large share of Courier orders in Pakistan,” said Awais Saeed, Country Head of inDrive Pakistan.

He said the variety of items being delivered reflected the trust users place in the platform, adding that this confidence plays an important role in shaping the company’s features and services.

The data also offers a glimpse into Pakistan’s food preferences. Biryani, roti and naan appeared repeatedly among the analysed orders, while milk featured as a standalone everyday staple.

Cake accounted for 3.1% of Food & Drink orders. That share was lower than in some other markets, including Kazakhstan and South Africa, where dessert-related deliveries formed a larger portion of demand. In Pakistan, orders were more strongly concentrated around ready-to-eat national dishes and familiar staples.

Beyond individual consumers, the service is also being used by small and independent food businesses. Home-based kitchens, cafés and local restaurants have relied on courier deliveries to get orders to customers, while individuals have used the service to send meals, groceries and other food items.

Safety and delivery visibility remain key features of the platform. Couriers undergo identity verification during registration by submitting an identification document and/or driving licence along with a photograph.

Users can review a courier’s rating, completed trips and profile information before selecting a courier for their delivery. During an active order, senders can track the courier’s journey in real time and share the tracking link with the recipient.

The platform also offers an OTP-based proof-of-delivery option. Under the system, the courier must enter a unique one-time password provided to the recipient before completing the delivery.

The expanding role of inDrive Courier forms part of the company’s wider move beyond ride-hailing. The platform has added services including intercity mobility, freight and courier deliveries as it develops into what the company describes as a Super App.

The latest findings suggest that this expansion is increasingly tied to routine consumer needs, particularly food and grocery deliveries, while also creating another channel for small businesses to reach customers across Pakistan.
