Women Empowerment Dr. Essa Laboratory Hosts Summit to Promote Leadership and Equal Opportunities

Women Empowerment remained the central focus as Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre hosted a summit in Karachi to promote women’s leadership, education, and equal participation in Pakistan’s development.

The event took place at the laboratory’s Abul Hassan Isphahani Branch and brought together representatives from healthcare, education, public service, civil society, media, sports, and the corporate sector.

Participants stressed that empowering women is essential for building a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan. They discussed women’s growing contributions to leadership, entrepreneurship, healthcare, education, and community development.

Speakers said women leaders strengthen institutions, improve decision-making, and encourage innovation. They also noted that organisations with greater female representation in leadership often achieve stronger governance and better long-term performance.

The summit highlighted the importance of girls’ education. Participants cited UNESCO data showing that nearly two-thirds of adults without basic literacy worldwide are women. They also noted that millions of girls remain out of school.

Speakers said educating women improves family health, raises household incomes, delays child marriage, reduces child mortality, and supports sustainable economic growth.

The discussion also focused on maternal health. Citing the World Health Organization, participants said about 260,000 women died from pregnancy and childbirth-related causes worldwide in 2023. They added that better healthcare access, education, and awareness could prevent many of these deaths.

Participants said women’s empowerment supports national progress by strengthening economic growth, social stability, and public institutions. They also linked these goals to the vision of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which emphasises national unity, discipline, merit, resilience, and inclusive development.

Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s leadership, healthcare awareness, education, professional development, and equal opportunities through future initiatives.
