Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday emphasized the need for greater leadership-level interaction and enhanced bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the Sultanate of Oman to strengthen their fraternal ties.
He made these remarks during a meeting with the Ambassador of Oman to Pakistan, Mr. Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Alkharusi, at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Both sides discussed ways to deepen relations for the mutual benefit of the two brotherly nations.
President Zardari said that Pakistan and Oman share close religious, cultural, and historical ties. He highlighted the importance of boosting trade and economic cooperation, particularly in sectors like information technology, construction, healthcare, food security, and energy.
He stressed that strong government-to-government engagement would pave the way for robust private-sector collaboration and increased investment between the two countries.
The President also thanked Oman for supporting Pakistan’s candidature as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026. He appreciated Oman for hosting more than 400,000 Pakistanis, who serve as a key link between the two nations and contribute significantly to Oman’s development.
