The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi observed Kashmir Black Day on 27 October 2026, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and their right to self-determination.
During the event, special messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read out to commemorate the occasion.
Ambassador highlights Kashmiris’ right to self-determination
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan paid tribute to the people of IIOJK for their continued struggle for self-determination. He said that, despite the hardships they face, Kashmiris remain committed to pursuing their rights.

The ambassador said India’s actions in the territory violated the principles of the United Nations Charter and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. He urged the international community to play its role in addressing reported human rights abuses and protecting the rights of the Kashmiri people.
He described 27 October 1947 as one of the darkest days in Jammu and Kashmir’s history, stating that the arrival of Indian troops marked the beginning of an occupation that Pakistan maintains was contrary to the wishes of the territory’s people and the principles of Partition.
Call for implementation of UN resolutions
Ambassador Khan recalled that UN Security Council resolutions envisaged a free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices to determine the future of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said India had accepted the relevant resolutions but had not allowed the promised plebiscite to take place. He also criticised India’s unilateral measures since 5 August 2019, arguing that they sought to change the territory’s status, demographic composition and political character.
The ambassador maintained that such measures could not alter Jammu and Kashmir’s disputed status.
Pakistan reaffirms diplomatic support
Ambassador Khan said Pakistan’s leadership had consistently raised the Kashmir dispute at the United Nations and other international forums to draw attention to the situation faced by the people of IIOJK.

He reiterated Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people, saying the country would continue its support until they achieved their right to self-determination in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and their aspirations.
A special documentary on the dispute, India’s occupation of IIOJK and reported human rights violations by Indian security forces was also screened during the event.
The event took place at the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on 27 October 2026.
