Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has approved a final cash dividend of 60% on ordinary shares, bringing its total dividend payout for the financial year ended June 30, 2026, to 120%.
Shareholders approved the company’s financial statements, along with the directors’ and auditors’ reports, at PPL’s 75th Annual General Meeting, held at a local hotel in Karachi.
PPL reports strong financial performance
Chairman of PPL’s Board of Directors, Shahid Khan, thanked shareholders for their continued trust and support. He reaffirmed the new board’s commitment to providing strategic direction, sustaining the company’s growth and profitability, and creating value for shareholders.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Khalid Abdul Rehman highlighted PPL’s performance during 2025–26, noting that the company remained resilient despite geopolitical uncertainty, volatile energy markets, gas curtailment, declining output from mature fields, security challenges and mounting circular debt.
PPL recorded approximately Rs99 billion in profit after tax and its highest-ever collections of Rs284 billion during the year. Abdul Rehman said the strong collections also supported the board’s decision to increase the annual dividend payout.
Exploration and production drive growth
PPL drilled seven exploration wells and four development wells during the financial year. Average production stood at 649 million standard cubic feet of gas equivalent per day (MMscfde), approximately 3% higher than the previous year despite gas curtailment.
The company also made 11 discoveries—two in assets it operates and nine in partner-operated assets. These discoveries added 242 billion cubic feet equivalent (BCFe) to PPL’s 2P reserves.
Offshore expansion strengthens energy partnerships
PPL secured eight offshore blocks—two as operator and six as a partner—following its successful participation in Pakistan’s Offshore Bidding Round 2025.
The company also signed a farm-out agreement with Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company for Eastern Offshore Indus Block C, which Abdul Rehman said had strengthened energy cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Meanwhile, PPL continued development activities at Offshore Block 5 in Abu Dhabi through Pakistan International Oil Limited, its operated subsidiary.
Minerals emerge as a diversification priority
PPL is expanding beyond its core exploration and production business by pursuing opportunities in minerals and other segments of the energy value chain.
The establishment of PPL Minerals as a dedicated business unit reflects the company’s strategy to explore Pakistan’s mineral potential. The BLZ project has entered the execution phase, while PPL has expanded its mineral exploration footprint in Chagai and evaluated opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
ESG commitments and community investment
PPL said responsible business practices remain central to its long-term strategy, with continued attention to governance, climate-related risks, environmental protection and community development. The company has published its second environmental, social and governance (ESG) report.
During 2025–26, PPL invested a record Rs8.3 billion in long-term, needs-based corporate social responsibility initiatives. These programmes covered education, healthcare, skills development, access to potable water and infrastructure development.
The company also reported zero Tier-1 process safety events and no major environmental spills during the year, highlighting its focus on safety across exploration and production operations.
Outlook: Building a diversified energy company
Looking ahead, Abdul Rehman said PPL would continue strengthening its core hydrocarbon business while expanding into minerals. The company also plans to advance innovation, progress its ESG priorities and maintain prudent financial management.
PPL aims to build a more resilient and diversified business while sustaining operational efficiency, financial discipline and long-term value creation for shareholders.
