Nabahat Lotia Unveils ‘Pottery Traditions of Pakistan’ at Mohatta Palace

The Book explores the rich heritage of pottery

across the country. The launch drew an impressive

crowd of art community and literary figures

Karachi: Nabahat Lotia launched her first book, Pottery Traditions of Pakistan, today at Mohatta Palace. It is the first book of its kind in Pakistan and explores the country’s pottery heritage. The event attracted many from the city’s art and literary circles.

Nusrat Khwaja opened the event by introducing the four speakers: Nabahat Lotia, architect Tariq Qaiser, art critic Niilofur Farrukh, and writer Rumana Hussain. Nabahat then shared her journey in writing the book. She spoke about her research and travels across rural Pakistan. She also showed a visual presentation of her findings.

Niilofur Farrukh praised the detailed research, especially the chapter on women potters. Tariq Qaiser admired the beauty of the book and mentioned Nabahat had been his teacher. Rumana Hussain read the foreword she wrote for the book.

The event ended with a short Q&A session, followed by refreshments.
