Louis Dreyfus Company’s new grain storage facility in Multan with 40,000 metric tons of storage capacity.

Louis Dreyfus Company Opens First Owned Grain Storage Facility in Pakistan

Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) has inaugurated a new grain storage facility in Multan, marking the global agricultural merchant and processor’s first owned industrial site in Pakistan.

The new facility adds approximately 40,000 metric tonnes of grain storage capacity in South Punjab and is expected to strengthen LDC’s logistics and supply chain capabilities in the country.

LDC’s Head of South and Southeast Asia, Rubens Marques, said Pakistan remained an important market for grains and a key destination for the company in South Asia.

“Growing populations and economies rely on strong and connected agricultural supply chains and trade flows,” he said, adding that the investment would strengthen LDC’s presence in Pakistan’s domestic market and improve its ability to meet changing customer needs across the region.

Pakistan is one of South Asia’s major agricultural markets and among the world’s largest producers and consumers of wheat. Demand for grains continues to grow alongside the country’s population, which exceeds 250 million.

LDC established its presence in Pakistan in 2010 and has since expanded its operations across several agricultural sectors, including cotton, grains, oilseeds, pulses, rice and sugar. The company has also developed a significant presence in Pakistan’s wheat market.

Muhammad Danyal, LDC’s Country Head for Pakistan and Head of Grains and Oilseeds for Pakistan, said the investment in logistics infrastructure would help create more efficient and resilient agricultural supply chains.

“Pakistan’s strong agricultural base and growing demand for grains continue to create opportunities for our business in the country,” he said.

Danyal added that improved storage and logistics facilities would strengthen services for both suppliers and customers while supporting the continued development of Pakistan’s grains sector and contributing to local employment.

Founded in 1851, Louis Dreyfus Company is a global merchant and processor of agricultural products. The company operates across the agricultural value chain, including sourcing, processing and transporting commodities such as coffee, cotton, grains, oilseeds, rice and sugar.
