Despite criticism over conceding five goals in the first leg, Kompany defended his approach and dismissed suggestions that he might overhaul tactics for the second leg—a comparison drawn with Pep Guardiola during his time at Bayern.
“When you lose, there’s always something to explain. When you win, you’re always right,” Kompany remarked, rejecting the notion of drastic tactical changes.
