Karachi Politics took a collaborative turn on Tuesday as leaders from different political backgrounds agreed to work together to address the city’s long-standing civic problems.
The meeting was held at the central secretariat of the Pakistan Conservative Party, where Chairman Danish Chanah and Salman Mujahid Baloch, a senior leader of MQM Pakistan, discussed Karachi’s deteriorating urban conditions.
Syed Hasnain Alam also attended the meeting, which focused on both political cooperation and governance challenges.
The leaders stressed the need for political unity beyond party lines, saying national interest must take priority over individual or partisan agendas.
They highlighted key civic issues affecting Karachi, including acute water shortages, traffic congestion, encroachments, poor sanitation, unannounced electricity load-shedding and worsening law and order conditions.
The participants noted that Karachi contributes a significant share of Pakistan’s national revenue, yet continues to face inadequate civic infrastructure and public services.
Both sides agreed to raise a joint voice for the resolution of the city’s issues and to pursue coordinated efforts aimed at improving living conditions for residents.
They also emphasized strengthening democratic values and encouraging political dialogue to support long-term urban development.
