Israeli Forces Reportedly Advance in Southern Lebanon as Images Show Flag Raised at Beaufort Castle

Israeli media circulates images amid claims of expanded military operations against Hezbollah positions

BEIRUT — Israeli media has published images allegedly showing Israeli flags and the Golani Brigade banner raised over the historic Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, amid reports of a widening military operation in the region.

According to international media reports, the images emerged shortly after the Israeli military announced an expanded offensive in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah positions.

Israel claims expanded operations across southern Lebanon

The Israeli military said its forces have launched large-scale operations in areas including the Beaufort Ridge and Wadi al-Salouqi, with further expansion of activity expected in the coming days.

In a statement, the military claimed its troops had crossed the Litani River and were conducting operations north of it against Hezbollah infrastructure and fighters.

The army also released images of its personnel in operational zones, stating that the scope of military activity was being widened.

Netanyahu confirms operations beyond southern front

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israeli forces had crossed the Litani River during a visit to the northern border.

He said Israeli troops were operating not only in southern Lebanon but also carrying out actions in Beirut and the Bekaa Valley as part of what he described as a broader campaign against Hezbollah.

Lebanon expresses concern over escalation

Lebanese authorities have reportedly raised serious concerns over the Israeli advance, warning that continued military escalation could further destabilise the region.

Officials in Beirut have condemned the operations and expressed fears that the conflict could spread beyond southern Lebanon.

Beaufort Castle remains symbolic flashpoint

Beaufort Castle, a historic fortress in southern Lebanon, has long held strategic and symbolic importance and has previously been a focal point during periods of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The latest developments highlight rising tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, with fears of further escalation continuing to grow.
