The Inter-Services Public Relations on Sunday strongly condemned remarks made by the Indian army chief, calling them “provocative” and reflective of a dangerous mindset threatening regional stability.
In an official statement, the ISPR criticized comments in which the Indian military chief reportedly said that Pakistan should decide whether it wanted to remain “part of geography and history.”
Responding to the statement, the military’s media wing said Pakistan is already “a country of consequence at the global level,” describing it as a declared nuclear power and an inseparable part of South Asia’s geography and history.
The statement added that India’s leadership had failed to accept the existence of Pakistan even after eight decades.
ISPR said the “hubristic, jingoistic and myopic mindset” of Indian leadership had repeatedly pushed South Asia toward wars and crises.
“Threatening a sovereign nuclear neighbour with elimination from geography is not strategic signalling,” the statement said, warning that any such confrontation would have “mutual and comprehensive” consequences.
The Pakistani military emphasized that responsible nuclear states should demonstrate restraint, maturity, and strategic wisdom rather than using the language of “civilisational supremacy or national erasure.”
The statement also accused India of sponsoring regional instability and said New Delhi’s aggressive posture stemmed from frustration after failing to harm Pakistan during “Marka-e-Haq.”
The term refers to the 2025 Pakistan-India conflict that followed the April 22 Pahalgam attack and ended with a ceasefire on May 10 after Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
ISPR advised India to avoid pushing South Asia toward another crisis, warning that the consequences of any future conflict would extend beyond the region.
“India needs to reconcile with Pakistan’s salience and learn to co-exist with it peacefully,” the statement said.
The military further warned that any attempt to target Pakistan could trigger consequences that would not remain “geographically confined” or politically manageable for India.
