The PPP chairman says Pakistan will defend the Indus Waters Treaty and calls for political unity while addressing a ceremony in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Indus Waters Treaty remains non-negotiable for Pakistan, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said during an oath-taking ceremony in Gilgit.

Bilawal accused India of using the treaty as a political tool.

He said Pakistan would defend its rights under the agreement.

He added that Pakistan would fight to protect its interests if necessary.

Tribute to Gilgit-Baltistan

Bilawal paid tribute to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their sacrifices.

He described the region’s residents as patriotic Pakistanis.

He said they continue to honour former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for his contributions.

According to Bilawal, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan won freedom from Dogra rule through struggle and sacrifice.

Focus on youth and development

Bilawal pledged to create better opportunities for young people.

He said the PPP accepts the public mandate in Gilgit-Baltistan with a strong sense of responsibility.

Moreover, he said the party would continue to address the region’s major challenges.

He also praised the talent and skills of Gilgit-Baltistan’s youth.

Call for political cooperation

Bilawal said political confrontation now dominates Pakistan’s politics.

However, he added that the PPP is ready to work with all political parties in the national interest.

He thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for accepting the election mandate in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He also thanked the Pakistan Muslim League (N) for its cooperation.

Comments on regional security

Bilawal claimed Pakistan’s armed forces had defeated India in the recent conflict.

He also alleged that India was planning conspiracies against Pakistan.

Furthermore, he accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to facilitate infiltration through Afghanistan.

India has not responded to Bilawal’s remarks.
