Jamaat Ahle Sunnat leaders announce plans for the Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession and celebrations in Karachi.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi Karachi Central Procession to Leave Bolton Market on August 26

Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations will be held across Karachi with religious gatherings and processions, as Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan Karachi announced plans for its central procession on August 26.

Speaking at a press briefing alongside religious scholars, Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan Karachi chief Allama Syed Shah Abdul Haq Qadri said the organisation would celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi with reverence and devotion.

The central procession will leave New Memon Masjid, Bolton Market, at 3pm on Wednesday, August 26, corresponding to 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH. Led by religious scholars and spiritual leaders, the procession will travel along M.A. Jinnah Road before reaching Nishter Park.

A grand Milad-e-Mustafa conference will be held at Nishter Park, where religious scholars and Sunni leaders will address participants.

Qadri said preparations for the procession and conference were being finalised. He urged organisers facing difficulties over Milad gatherings, processions or other events to contact the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Karachi office near Shahid-e-Milad Mosque, opposite the Parking Plaza on Preedy Street, Lines Area.

Calls for security and civic arrangements

Qadri called for the issuance of NOCs for Milad processions, gatherings and events without unnecessary delays or difficulties.

He also urged law-enforcement agencies to pay special attention to preventing street crime during the celebrations and said negligence in security arrangements would not be acceptable.

The Jamaat Ahle Sunnat leader criticised Karachi’s civic authorities over the condition of roads, sanitation and drainage ahead of the celebrations.

He said the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) had announced tenders and funds worth Rs200 million for municipal arrangements related to Eid Milad-un-Nabi. Despite the allocation, he said several roads remained damaged, with potholes, sewage water and inadequate cleanliness creating difficulties for participants.

Qadri called on Karachi’s municipal institutions, district administration, town chairmen and union council representatives to focus on resolving residents’ basic problems rather than limiting their activities to political statements and meetings.

He warned that continued inaction could force the organisation to adopt a protest strategy and urged civic authorities to take immediate practical measures.

Jamaat calls for uninterrupted power supply

Haji Hanif Tayyab called on K-Electric to ensure uninterrupted electricity during Milad processions and gatherings.

He said K-Electric had provided assurances regarding power supply but had yet to fully honour its commitment to avoid nighttime load-shedding.

The organisation also urged citizens to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with devotion, decorate their homes and offices with lights and display green flags.

Organisations and associations planning camps along the procession route were asked to coordinate with the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat office in advance. The group said camps that obstruct the procession route would not be permitted.

Participants were urged to cooperate fully with the procession administration, scouts and volunteers and remain vigilant about suspicious individuals or objects.

The organisation also appealed to political parties, traders’ associations and educational institutions to arrange their own Eid Milad-un-Nabi programmes.

Call for special media programmes

Jamaat Ahle Sunnat also appealed to electronic media organisations to broadcast special programmes featuring Naat recitations, Quran recitation sessions and discussions on the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

It further urged broadcasters to offer prayers and salutations at the time of the Prophet’s birth during the early morning hours.

Milad maritime rally planned

Separately, Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan Karachi will organise a maritime Milad rally on Saturday, August 22, at 12:30pm.

According to the organisers, boats will depart from Keamari and travel toward Manora, Baba Bhit Island and Shams Pir Island before touring the sea and returning to Keamari Jetty.

The organisation said arrangements for the maritime rally and other Eid Milad-un-Nabi activities were also underway.
