Karachi: Ms. Sabeen, one of the organizers, shared insights about her recent project in Greenland, where they conducted a successful plantation drive. Mr. Junaid Allam, Assistant Commissioner of the South area, supported the initiative by providing a park and a team for tree planting.
Mr. Junaid Allam highlighted that they have been busy planting thousands of trees across Karachi. This effort comes in response to the alarming rise in temperatures and frequent heatwaves affecting the city. He stressed that Karachi, often referred to as a concrete jungle, desperately needs more green spaces to combat these challenges.
Certificates were distributed to speakers and students who participated in the event. Additionally, the remaining plants were given to children to plant at their homes, encouraging them to take responsibility for the environment.
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks and an announcement of upcoming plantation drives in Korangi, Hill Park, and Thar. Attendees then enjoyed refreshments, with children eagerly grabbing pakoras and samosas to celebrate the successful event.
