Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has praised Pakistan’s political leadership for its strategic foresight during Marka-e-Haq (The Battle of Truth), the country’s coordinated response to India’s recent military misadventure.
At a high-level dinner reception hosted in Islamabad, Field Marshal Munir also commended the seamless inter-services coordination that led to the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (The Formidable Wall), according to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Field Marshal Hosts Dinner to Honour National Resilience
The dinner, held to recognise the political leadership, armed forces, and the resilient people of Pakistan, came shortly after Gen Munir was officially conferred the rank of Field Marshal—the highest military title in Pakistan. The ceremony took place earlier in the week at the Presidency and was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The promotion, announced on May 21, acknowledged Munir’s exceptional military leadership, courage, and commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Recognition for Media, Youth, and Scientific Community
In his address, Field Marshal Munir paid tribute to the Pakistani youth and media for playing a decisive role in countering India’s disinformation campaign, describing them as a “steel wall” against malign propaganda.
He also applauded the crucial contributions of Pakistani scientists, engineers, and diplomats, whose expertise and determination proved vital during the crisis.

The gathering brought together Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership, including:

According to the ISPR, participants praised the leadership of Field Marshal Munir, hailed the courage and sacrifices of the armed forces, and lauded the unwavering patriotism of the Pakistani people.
“The evening stood as a powerful affirmation of national unity and the collective resolve to advance with renewed strength and cohesion,” the military’s media wing stated.
Background: Promotion to Field Marshal
Field Marshal Munir is the second officer in Pakistan’s history to receive the rank of Field Marshal. The first was General Mohammad Ayub Khan in 1959. His elevation to the prestigious rank followed Pakistan’s successful diplomatic and military handling of the India-Pakistan confrontation, which ended with a US-mediated ceasefire.
