A complaint alleging tax evasion and concealment of income has been submitted to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), calling for an investigation into the financial affairs of family members and close associates of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.
The complaint seeks an examination of the assets, income sources and financial transactions of five individuals, including a JUI senator, Lutf-ur-Rehman, Zia-ur-Rehman, Asad Mahmood and Abrar Ahmed.
It urges the tax authority to scrutinise their domestic and foreign bank accounts, business activities and financial dealings to determine whether they comply with applicable tax laws.
Bank Accounts and Business Activities Under Scrutiny
According to the complaint, the FBR has been asked to investigate the domestic and foreign currency accounts of the JUI senator.
It also calls for scrutiny of Lutf-ur-Rehman’s bank accounts and business activities, along with an inquiry into allegedly unexplained funds held in accounts belonging to Zia-ur-Rehman.

The complaint further seeks an examination of Asad Mahmood’s bank accounts to identify any potential tax evasion or concealment of income.
In the case of Abrar Ahmed, the requested investigation covers his bank accounts, travel and tours business, and related financial affairs.
Probe Sought into Welfare and Educational Entities
The complaint also calls for an investigation into financial transactions linked to welfare organisations, educational institutions and business entities associated with the individuals.
It asks the FBR to compare their declared assets, income tax returns and bank transactions to identify possible discrepancies.
The complainant wants the authority to determine whether the individuals’ declared income and assets correspond with their financial activities.
The allegations are claims made in the complaint and do not establish that any of the individuals have committed wrongdoing.
CDA Issues Notice to JUI-Affiliated Madrasa
Separately, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued a notice over alleged unauthorised construction at Madrasa Akhtar-ul-Uloom in Bilal Town, Islamabad. The institution is affiliated with JUI.
The authority has cited alleged violations of the Islamabad Capital Territory Building Control Regulations 2020 and directed the madrasa administration to submit the building’s construction plans to the relevant authority within 15 days of the notice’s issuance.
The CDA warned that failure to comply with the legal requirements could result in action under the applicable provisions, including the possible sealing of the madrasa building.
