TORONTO : Farid Khan Abro, Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Canada, hosted a grand Independence Day celebration in Toronto to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
Members of the Pakistani community, PPP Canada leadership and local government representatives attended the event.
The ceremony opened with a flag-hoisting ceremony and the national anthem. Participants raised the Pakistani flag and expressed their solidarity with the country.
A cake-cutting ceremony followed, with PPP Canada leaders, local representatives and community members joining the celebrations.

PPP Canada President Chaudhry Javed Gujjar, former PPP Canada President Ibrahim Daniyal, the mayor, deputy mayor and several councillors attended the event.

Other prominent members of the Pakistani community also participated in the celebrations.
During the event, PPP Canada leaders and other participants congratulated Abro on his appointment as Vice President of PPP Canada.
They expressed hope that he would play an active role in strengthening ties between the Pakistani community in Canada and the party leadership.
Possible Visit to Pakistan
According to sources, Abro’s visit to Pakistan is also under consideration.
Some sources have suggested that he could receive an important position or responsibility in Pakistan in the future. However, no official announcement has confirmed such a development.
The event concluded with special prayers for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress and prosperity.
Members of the Pakistani community celebrated the occasion with patriotic enthusiasm and expressed their continued attachment to Pakistan.
