Bangladesh Defeat Pakistan by 104 Runs in First Test After Dramatic Collapse in Mirpur

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test match, as the visiting side collapsed in their chase of a 268-run target on the final day in Mirpur.

Pakistan’s batting lineup faltered under pressure and was bowled out for 163 runs in the second innings, falling well short of the target and handing Bangladesh a convincing victory.

The innings began on a disastrous note for Pakistan, with the first wicket falling for just 3 runs. Opening batter Azan Awais followed soon after, scoring 15 runs before being dismissed.

Middle-order resistance failed to stabilize the innings. Captain Shan Masood managed only 2 runs, while Abdullah Fazal top-scored with 66 runs. Salman Agha contributed 26 runs, followed by Saud Shakeel (15), Hassan Khan (12), Hassan Ali (1), and Noman Ali (4), as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals.

Earlier, Bangladesh had set the tone for the match by declaring their second innings at 240/9 on the fifth day. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with 87 runs, while Mominul Haque added a valuable 56.

Pakistan’s bowlers showed moments of fightback, with Hassan Ali and Noman Ali claiming three wickets each, Shaheen Afridi taking two, and Mohammad Abbas picking up one wicket. Noman Ali also reached a major milestone, completing 100 Test wickets in his career.

In the first innings, Bangladesh posted a strong total of 413 runs, while Pakistan responded with 386 runs, giving the hosts a crucial advantage heading into the final innings.

Despite a competitive start to the match, Pakistan’s batting collapse in the second innings proved decisive, allowing Bangladesh to secure a comprehensive victory in Mirpur.
