The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted an Austrian Jazz Ensemble at Studio II.
The event was held in collaboration with the Embassy of Austria. It formed part of the World Culture Festival Karachi 2026 series.
A large number of jazz enthusiasts attended the musical evening. Austrian musicians Robert Pawlik and Michaela Rabitsch led the performance.
The artists showcased Austrian jazz and engaged the Karachi audience with a selection of melodies.
SOVAPA faculty members Waqas Gulab and Zeeshan Pervaiz also joined the ensemble. They performed alongside the Austrian musicians during the evening.
Diplomatic and Cultural Guests Attend
President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmed Shah welcomed the guests. Several diplomats and prominent cultural personalities attended the programme.

The guests included Dr Jörg Martin Schumacher, Director of Goethe-Institut Pakistan Karachi.
The Consuls General of Japan and the Republic of Korea also attended the event. The Acting Consul General of Italy was also present.
The Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire in Karachi attended the programme as well.
Austrian Musicians Impress Audience
Guitarist Robert Pawlik and trumpeter Michaela Rabitsch performed several jazz compositions.
Their performance highlighted their technical skill and musical experience. The audience responded with warm applause throughout the evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ahmed Shah welcomed the Austrian artists and diplomats.
“Today, we had the opportunity to listen to Austrian jazz musicians. I warmly welcome the Austrian artists, the diplomats present here and all the participants,” he said.
Ahmed Shah said the Arts Council continues to promote international cultural exchange.
He said the organisation provides a platform for artists from different countries. This allows Pakistani audiences to experience diverse forms of international art and culture.
World Culture Festival to Begin October 29
Ahmed Shah also announced the third edition of the World Culture Festival.
The festival will begin at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on October 29. It will bring together artists from different parts of the world.
The month-long festival will feature musicians, actors, dancers and visual artists.
Ahmed Shah said the festival would give Karachi residents an opportunity to experience international cultures under one roof.
He added that around 80 per cent of the festival programmes would be free.
However, participants will need to register before attending the programmes.
The Austrian Jazz Ensemble performance reflected the Arts Council’s efforts to promote cultural exchange.
The initiative also aims to strengthen artistic and cultural ties between Pakistan and other countries.
