Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi is celebrating the ongoing 38-day “World Culture Festival Karachi.” On its 29th day, the council hosted an exciting event titled “Flavors of the UAE” at the Jaun Elia Lawn. This event showcased the vibrant culture of the United Arab Emirates and featured distinguished guests, including UAE Consul General Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Alremeithi, Sindh’s Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and Arts Council President Muhammad Ahmed Shah.
A Taste of Emirati Cuisine
The venue transformed into an Arabic cultural tent, allowing attendees to indulge in a variety of traditional dishes. Guests enjoyed delicacies such as kahwa, date tea, sago, luqaimat, khabisa, balaleet, and makhi. A rare white falcon captivated the audience, while a traditional sword dance performance enhanced the festive atmosphere, accompanied by lively Arabic music.
Celebrating Cultural Connections
In his address, UAE Consul General Bakheet Ateeq Alremeithi expressed gratitude to Ahmed Shah and Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah for creating a platform to showcase Arab culture in Karachi. He highlighted the warmth and hospitality of the Pakistani people and announced plans for a festival in the UAE to promote Sindhi culture, in collaboration with the Arts Council and the Sindh Culture Department.
Strengthening Ties Between Pakistan and UAE
President Ahmed Shah welcomed the UAE Consulate’s involvement, commending their efforts in presenting Emirati culture at the festival. He emphasized the strong brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, noting that such programs reinforce cultural ties and friendships.
Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah praised the UAE Consul General for their support, stating that the event was a source of pride for Karachi. He remarked, “As the Arab community learns about our culture, the people of Karachi are also embracing theirs. This festival gathers artists from Sindh and around the world, leaving a positive global impression. While we face challenges, the land of Sindh conveys a beautiful and positive message.”
