Houston-Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA) President Muhammad Saeed Sheikh attended the 96th National Day celebration of Saudi Arabia in Houston, accompanied by his wife, Farida Sheikh.
The event provided an opportunity for Sheikh to meet and welcome Saudi Arabia’s newly appointed Consul General in Houston, Wafa bint Abdullah Al-Marzouqi. He congratulated her on her appointment, which the organizers described as historic as she becomes the first Saudi woman to serve as consul general in Houston.
Sheikh conveyed his congratulations to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the country’s National Day. He also wished Al-Marzouqi success in her new diplomatic assignment.
During the event, Sheikh expressed his commitment to continued engagement with the Saudi Consulate and said he looked forward to opportunities for cooperation that could contribute to Houston’s international and community relationships.
Pakistan, Iraq Seek Stronger Educational and Cultural Ties
The celebration brought together members of Houston’s Consular Corps, representatives of the Mayor’s Office of Trade and International Affairs, community leaders and guests representing countries from around the world.
Sheikh highlighted the longstanding connections between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the United States, emphasizing the role of diplomacy, community engagement and people-to-people relations in promoting understanding and cooperation among nations.
“We warmly welcome Her Excellency Wafa Al-Marzouqi to Houston and wish her tremendous success in this important assignment. We look forward to working together and further strengthening the bonds of friendship among our communities,” Sheikh said.
