The Pakistani rupee gained marginally against the US dollar on Friday as the greenback weakened in the interbank foreign exchange market.
On the fifth and final trading session of the week, the US dollar fell by three paisas against the rupee, closing at Rs277.32. The dollar had ended the previous session at Rs277.35.
The latest movement represents a modest appreciation in the local currency and points to relative stability in the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Although the daily change was limited, the rupee has continued to show signs of improvement against the US dollar.

The Pakistani rupee remains closely watched because movements in its value can have a direct impact on the country’s economy. Exchange-rate fluctuations influence the cost of imported goods, including fuel, machinery and industrial raw materials.
The currency’s value also affects Pakistan’s external debt servicing costs, making movements in the interbank exchange rate an important indicator for businesses, investors and policymakers.
For now, Friday’s trading session ended with the rupee posting a modest gain, while the dollar remained slightly weaker in the interbank market.
