The session brought together universities from across Pakistan and the region to advance collaborative teaching and research in water management.
Activities related to the network began a day earlier at the 7th Karachi International Water Conference (KIWC), where the Vice Chancellor of NED University and the Vice Chancellor of South Punjab University (SPU) Multan) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to induct SPU into the UWN network. A similar agreement was signed during Thursday’s session between the Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University Tandojam and the Pro Vice Chancellor of NED University.
During the meeting, eight universities presented their ongoing initiatives on water-related education and research, including contributions from two institutions in Bangladesh, highlighting the network’s expanding regional footprint.
It was announced that the next two UWN meetings and accompanying seminars will be hosted by South Punjab University in Multan and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in Hyderabad, respectively.
The UWN, initiated to foster collaboration among academic institutions addressing water challenges in South Asia, continues to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and regional partnership in sustainable water management.
