PM Shehbaz Pledges Full Support to KP Govt in Fight Against Terrorism

Chitral: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday vowed to extend full support to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in maintaining peace and eliminating terrorism from the province, reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to regional stability and development.

Addressing a public gathering in district Chitral, the Prime Minister congratulated KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on his election and invited him to collaborate on efforts for peace and prosperity. “I hope he will accept my offer and together we will work for the development and progress of the country,” Shehbaz said.

The Prime Minister also announced a comprehensive development package for Chitral, covering key sectors such as education, health, and energy. The initiatives include construction of a hospital in Upper Chitral, a modern hospital and university under the federal government, and completion of major roads including the Chitral-Mastung-Shandur Highway. He added that access to the Lower Tunnel had also been completed.

Shehbaz Sharif further assured residents that the federal government would address local electricity tariff issues, while students from Chitral would be included in the federal Laptop Scheme — part of a broader plan to distribute 100,000 laptops nationwide.

Commending the country’s security institutions, the Prime Minister praised the armed forces, led by Field Marshal Asim Munir, for “foiling India’s nefarious designs,” and lauded Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu and the Pakistan Air Force for safeguarding the nation’s airspace.

Earlier, Shehbaz inaugurated the Danish School System campus in Chitral, built on 148 kanals and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including separate sections for male and female students. He said the project reflected his vision to deliver free, high-quality education — with full boarding and lodging — to deserving students in remote areas such as Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral.

Calling Chitral “one of the most beautiful regions of KP,” the Prime Minister praised the bravery and patriotism of its people, acknowledging their continued role in the nation’s progress. He also recalled the contributions of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who he said had prioritized the area’s development, including the Lowari Top project.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON, Engr. Amir Muqam, lauded the Prime Minister’s leadership, noting that Pakistan had made progress on both economic and diplomatic fronts under his tenure. Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar was also present at the ceremony.
