Karachi: Syed Abdullah Hassan, an anchorperson for a private TV channel, died in a road accident on Sharea Faisal in Karachi late Sunday night, according to police reports.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza stated that Hassan, aged 40, was driving a car when he hit a footpath near a traffic signal. Rescue services rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Sajid Sadozai attributed the accident to speeding, noting that the front of the car suffered severe damage.

Condolences Pour In for Syed Abdullah Hassan

Sindh’s Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, extended his condolences to Hassan’s family. In a statement released by the CM House, Shah remarked, “Hassan’s services in journalism will be remembered.”

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori also expressed grief over Hassan’s death. He offered prayers for the deceased and strength for the grieving family, stating, “May Allah grant forgiveness to the deceased and patience to the family, Ameen.”

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Spokesperson Shazia Marri shared her sorrow over the tragic incident, expressing solidarity with the family “in this time of sorrow and difficulty.”

Recent Journalist Fatalities in Karachi

This incident follows another tragic loss in July, where a journalist died when a fuel tank detached from a tanker and overturned on the Baloch Colony flyover in Karachi. Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) Deputy Inspector General, reported that the accident caused the closure of both lanes of the busy road for several hours. The journalist, identified as Asad Abbas Zaidi, was killed when the tank fell on his vehicle.

In another incident, a father and his daughter were killed last month when a speeding SUV crashed into their motorcycle on a service lane along Karachi’s Karsaz Road. The prime suspect, Natasha Danish, recently received bail after the victims’ family pardoned her and removed their objections.

Ongoing Investigation

Police have confirmed that an investigation into Syed Abdullah Hassan’s accident is ongoing to determine further details about the cause of the crash.
